I’m taking umbrage with our stance on Rush’s failed bid to buy the Rams.
I’m no Limbaugh lover, in fact, I think he’s the biggest a$$hole conservative punditry has to offer (and that’s saying a lot).
But my question is: Why cares?
Plenty of a$$holes run sports teams. Many of them are just as racist and just as conservative than Rush (Ms Schott, anyone?). No one ever cared before— or at least, they didn’t care enough to stop them from actually purchasing the team. Why start now?
Obviously I don’t agree with what Rush says or believes. And I don’t really give a crap about St. Louis or the Rams, so it’s not like I have any personal stake in what he does. Sure, I’d rather NOT see him run a football team… Wait, actually, scratch that— that would be great f#cking theater! I mean, seriously, this needs to happen just for the sake of comedy. Even if it only lasts two months before he gets assassinated by a Rams fan.
Basically what I’m trying to say is why should we give a sh!t if a racist a$$hole wants to buy a sports team? It has no immediate impact on our lives. Unless it’s our sports team.
Which it isn’t, so we’re all good. Let Rush Limbaugh buy the Rams, pull up a chair and make some popcorm because it will be HI-larious.

Although there is potential for great theater here (drama, laughs, etc.), I think it would more likely play out as did his brief stint with ESPN, in which he lasted 3 weeks before saying something that was completely racist and not at all funny. Also, since you brought her up, Marge Schott was banned from baseball and eventually forced to sell the team, so this has precedent in sports. The fans, league, and players have no patience for racism, and rightfully so. Jackie Robinson didn’t die young so bigots like that could tarnish our national treasures.
Guess I forgot she was banned.
Still, I’m not saying his racism in itself is funny, I just find this entire drama of “him vs. the media” funny as hell. This would simply take that to a whole new level.
Admittedly, it’s probably for the best that he’s not involved. I guess I’m also just an a$$hole for wanting to watch people on both sides squirm.
