I Was Wrong, Part 2

losersJust to be clear, this is actually the third “Jeremy was Wrong” post, but the second one was written by Pat and was an attempt to dismiss my claim that Big Papi was the poster boy for PEDs, for which I have since been proven absolutely 100% correct.  So we’re not counting that one.  That said, I was wrong.  What was I wrong about?  The turn around of the Oakland Raiders

Today I received a text message from my buddy Dave, who’s both a huge Raiders fan and a Bears fan since his family is from Chicago but he was raised in LA.  His text read:

“The Raiders have today and next Sunday in NY, a game I’ll be at, to show me something.  Anything.  If they continue to embarrass themselves, I am officially done with them until further notice and will be a full-time Bears fan.  I’m not wasting any more of my life on this lost cause.”

And can you blame him?  I know I thought the Raiders looked pretty good through the first two weeks of the season, but since then they’ve reverted to the same dysfunction that has defined them since the night before their last Super Bowl appearance (Barret Robbins sure knows how to bring the crazy).  In the last week, we’ve gotten confirmation that their head coach did indeed punch an assistant coach in the face and break his jaw during the preseason.  Maybe a day after that news came out, Richard Seymore (one of the few players playing well on this team) was fined for hair pulling.  That’s right.  He pulled an opposing player’s hair.  No word yet on if he scratched the guy or hit him with his purse, but at least one referee claimed to see Seymore take off his high heels and threaten to to hit the him with his shoe.

On a less hilarious note, though, another former player criticized the organization’s dysfunction.  Jeff Garcia, who was a Raider for all of a few weeks, felt the need to detail how little the team cares about winning and how unbelievably bad JaMarcus Russell is.  Good times.

So in the end, my suggestion is to give up on the team until Al Davis either dies or sells the team (which will NEVER happen).  I know a lot of you will find abandoning one’s team to be sacrilegious, but why should he have to be subjected to torture every Sunday for the next few years?  I say put ‘em down for a while and hop on the Cutler bandwagon.  Welcome aboard, Dave.

  • I know you have a long standing tradition of not proof reading your posts, but Richard Seymour spells his name the way I just spelled it, not the way you misspelled twice in this post.

  • Fahk, dude. I gotta stop writing posts in the wee hours of the morning. Especially if I’m still hungover AND have jet lag. Oh well, it just gives people more fodder with which to rip on me for.

Yeah cuz people just love when you correct them. Chillax dude, we all know who he was talking about and if not, well you should probably read another website. May I suggest something stupid and pointless like tmz.com.

As for the Raiders, all I can say is Al Davis is so done here! The only thing that will save the Raiders is getting a new owner who can make the right hire at head ball coach. Someone who can rally the troops and get all 53 players on the same page committed to winning instead of just committed to collecting pay checks.

One more thing, as awful as the Raiders are they are not even the worst team in the NFL. Time to bury your heads in the sand Rams fans. At least you have the Cardinals to distract you from the pile of puke being played every Sunday in the Edward Jones dome.
