OMG! I, like, totally have a juicy piece of gossip! I don’t know if I should tell you though. Ok, fine. But you have to keep it quiet. Here’s an email I just got from my friend Chuck Hustle out in San Fran:
“So I was talking to a guy who knows a guy on the inside of the Warriors operation and Monta Ellis will be moved within two weeks. 3 team trade, although I am unsure of the other teams involved. Should be interesting to see how his one plays out as Monta Ellis is gonna have a sick season as long as he doesn’t eat pizza on the back of a scooter at 3 AM.”
I love this for several reasons. 1) Now we get to get in the game of trade speculation based on unconfirmed rumors that may or may not end up happening. Just like the “real” media! 2) I like that it’s specific enough to get into the “3 team trade” territory, which both gives it some credence due to extra details, and also means that, if it goes down, there will be several teams impacted. 3) This trade is a good idea for the Warriors, who now have a better undersized shooting guard in Stephan Curry, thus making Ellis expendable. 4) this has been a great off-season for the NBA, and should make for a spectacular 2010 season full of powerhouses with playoff potential. And 5) Chuck took a shot at Ellis for injuring himself in hilarious fashion and fucking up his season last year after signing a big contract.

it’s totally gonna suck if I got misinformed on this one.
Even if you’re wrong, that only puts us in the same category as every other media outlet that talks trade rumors that never end up happening. But if you’re right, then we’ll have a 100% success rate at predicting trades.
I like those odds.
