So Pat and I went to the Blonde Redhead concert in Brooklyn on Saturday, one of the many great free concerts that dot the city throughout the summer. For those of you that don’t know, Blonde Redhead is a three piece band made up of a Japanese lead singer, her Italian husband on the guitar, and his twin brother on the drums.
It was a fantastic show, including a few new songs that they’ve been working on since their last album, 23 , came out in 2007. We both saw them perform last year at the now decommissioned McCarren Pool, and I have to say that they were even better this time around. Their music has a haunting quality to it, which was only enhanced by the lighting at the venue (as opposed to last year’s show which was in the afternoon and had no lighting effects). Either way, if you haven’t heard them before, check them out, and if
you haven’t seen them, do it. For a much more thorough collection of pics from the show, go to Brooklyn Vegan.
